Currently, China has allocated about 200 million yuan for rescue efforts while the death toll continues to rise, which as of press time, is around 600.
More than 5,000 rescuers, including soldiers and medical workers, have been dispatched to the region with the first team arriving at around 2:00 PM carrying medical supplies, food and drinking water.
Tents, cotton-padded clothes, quilts, food, medicine, bulldozers, excavators and cranes are being rushed to the region from across the country.
