Microsoft Office 365 To Roll Out June
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave news that the company is planning to finally roll out the Office 365 cloud service by the end of June 2011.
Ballmer announced the news in Delhi, India saying, “We’re pushing hard in the productivity space. We’ll launch our Office 365 cloud service, which gives you Lync and Exchange and SharePoint and Office and more as a subscribable service that comes from the cloud. That launches in the month of June.”
Moreover, Ballmer claimed that their latest operating system, Windows 8, will be out to the market by 2012. However, the announcement caused some mixed reactions as some Microsoft employees actually backpedalled the statement.
Office 365, is an online service intended to replace the current Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) which includes Exchange, SharePoint, the Lync unified communications suite as well as the desktop tools Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Currently, 100,000 users are using the Office 365 beta.
