Nuclear Summit Begins
US President Barack Obama welcomed leaders today from 46 countries for the two-day Nuclear Security Summit.
Some of those who came are Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese President Hu Jintao, who shook hands as they entered the Walter E Washington Convention Centre.
This summit is the largest gathering of world leaders called by an American president since the historic birth of the United Nations in 1945 through the organization of Franklin D Roosevelt.
The summit hopes to draw specific plans to secure all loose bomb-usable materials around the world within four years which includes developing a detailed plan to secure nuclear materials, prevent their smuggling and deter, detect and disrupt attempts at nuclear terrorism.
